MAT & REFORMER PILATES

VPilates Barre & Étirement offers different types of group pilates classes: Mat Pilates utilizing props (balls, elastics, foam roller...) and group Reformer classes.

Mat Pilates is open to everyone. This is an all-level class, that suits beginners as well as intermediate and advanced participants who wish

to learn, or review, the Pilates principles and techniques.

The level is adjusted according to the level of the participants attending the class. The instructor gives appropriate modifications to simplify or increase the challenge of the exercises. The instructor will demonstrate when needed and will correct form when needed. This class has a moderate pace and is a full body workout.

Mat & Reformer Pilates

Gentle Pilates: This class is perfect for anyone who wishes to take things slower or needs special modifications due to their physical condition. This class is mainly performed in neutral spine or with small amount of flexion (if appropriate). This class is a gentle, full body workout with special focus on balance, core, flexibility and general reinforcement. The instructor demonstrates if needed, corrects form, gives appropriate modifications and pushes the participants to progress safely and pain-free every class.

 

Strength Pilates: This class is for anyone who has little or no physical restrictions. Prior Pilates or fitness experience is preferred. The pace of the class is faster and the exercise flow creates a more challenging environment. This class provides a full body workout, with extra endurance challenge. Props (balls, foam rollers, fitness circles etc.) are often used in this class, while maintaining focus on proper form and the Pilates principles. The instructor barely demonstrates. The focus is on correcting form and alignment of the participants.
 

Reformer is open to everyone: The small semi-private groups (6 participants maximum) welcome all levels. The Reformer permits additional load to the movements, which is otherwise not possible on the Mat. The Reformer’s spring (tension) will resist or assist movement, as needed by the participants. This allows the instructor to personalize the class to each participant’s fitness level. The instructor provides little or no demonstration in order to keep the flow of the class.

 

Reformer Jumpboard: these are small semi-private groups (6 participants maximum). It is preferable to have prior experience with either Mat Pilates or Reformer Pilates before enrolling in this class. If you wish to enroll in this class, please contact VPilates administration before registering. A Jumpboard is added to the Reformer to allow jumping. This class is a full body workout, complete with flexibility and mobility work as well as added cardio intervals. Sweat and fun guaranteed!
